he sponge is soaked with syrup (e.g. diluted fruit juice or Werner's special syrup*) as a nectar substitute. We supply five sponges made of cellulose. If the sponge is kept moist regularly, it can be used for a season. Depending on the sunlight, the sponge loses its colour, but this does not affect the function. The sponges can be purchased from cosmetic retailers or directly from us. Used sponges can be disposed of as waste paper.

*Werner's special syrup
Our neighbour Werner Wollandt is a beekeeper and makes a special syrup to feed his bees in autumn: Boil a cup of camomile tea with two tea bags and stir in sugar 1/3 of the water. Ready is Werner's special syrup, which tastes good not only to bees.
