When natural water sources freeze over, it becomes more difficult for wild birds to find water. The right birdbath heater counteracts this and prevents the water from freezing down to around -10 °C. This means birds can still drink fresh, clean water even in the cold of winter. Puddles and other water sources are often contaminated with dirt or salt in winter.
