These
wonderfully soft mats are made exclusively for us. They are decorative
but also very practical. As well as preventing delicate surfaces from
getting scratched, the brushed wool also acts as a heat shield. The
major advantage compared with felt is that our material copes well with
being washed.
Our 13 cm coaster is designed for all Indoor Waxburners.
However, the model SMG (Indoor M Granicium with stainless steel base) needs a 20 cm mat.
Information about materials
The
natural grease and texture of the brushed wool makes the mats
dirt-repellent. Liquids roll off the wool instead of soaking in
straightaway. Wool is naturally antistatic, so it attracts less dry
dirt. It’s best to knock off dirt immediately and rinse the mat under
cold running water. Don’t rub the mat. Then, carefully press the water
out of the wool and lay it flat on a tea towel to dry. If necessary,
smooth into shape and gently press with a steam iron.
*Mulesing
involves removing the skin from around the tail of a sheep, without
anaesthetic. The procedure is often performed in Australia and New
Zealand to protect the animals against parasitic infection (flystrike).
